FMC Corporation announces amended registration from the EPA for new paracetic acid applications
The HRS foaming system allows peracetic acid to be applied with a unique, patent pending foam adjuvant formulation. Because of the highly retentive, foaming activity, the efficiency of the peracetic acid is improved through extended contact time on vertical and oblique surfaces and through enhanced visual marking. Additional benefits of the HRS system include reduction of the odor and irritation typically associated with peracetic acid.
"This is an important new sanitizing tool for the food processing and sanitation service industries," said Scott Druker, peracetic acid product manager for the FMC Active Oxidants Division. "Because peracetic acid can now be applied in open areas through HRS, control of major food pathogens, including Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella typhimurium and Escherichia coli (E. coli), is greatly improved."
The major advantage of the HRS system is increased retention time on vertical surfaces and the undersides of equipment, seams and conveyor belts, said Druker. And, because VigorOx is delivered in a foam formulation, cleaning crews can actually see where peracetic acid is applied.
With the amended California registration, use of VigorOx with the HRS foaming system is now available in all states in the U.S. FMC Corporation launched the new system last fall in processing plants where Listeria had become a problem.
VigorOx is the only approved peracetic acid that can be used with the HRS foaming system. VigorOx used in combination with HRS is a no-rinse sanitizer when used according to label directions.
