BASF Venture Capital GmbH invests in innovative plant biotechnology
BASF Venture Capital GmbH, Ludwigshafen, Germany, is investing in Anawah Inc., an agricultural research and development company with corporate headquarters in Seattle, Washington, USA. Other investors completing the $6 million first closing of the current Series B round of financing are CMEA Ventures and Milepost Ventures, two U.S. funds with a long tradition in biotechnology investments. The capital raised in this round of financing is intended to drive forward the development of current products and to increase the product portfolio.
Focused on whole food improvement, Anawah merges traditional breeding methods with advanced understanding of molecular biology. It utilizes a proprietary screening process to discover plant characteristics to deliver food that is better tasting and more wholesome and nutritious.
