Krahn Chemie: Cooperation with Akzo Nobel in Benelux expanded

23-Mar-2016 - Germany

For the product groups Bermocoll® cellulose ethers und Elotex® emulsion powders, Akzo Nobel has appointed Krahn Chemie as their distribution partner for the construction industry in Benelux.

Both companies already have a long time partnership for Bermocoll® cellulose ethers and Elotex® emulsion powders for the applications paints and coatings. The distribution to the construction industry was so far done by Lapis Minerals & Chemicals, whose distribution business Krahn Chemie recently acquired.

Bermocoll® cellulose ether thickeners and Elotex® redispersible polymer powders are used primarily for dry mortar in the construction industry. Typical applications are tile adhesives, flooring formulations, grouts, mortar for insulation systems, waterproofing membranes, repair mortar, joint filler, cement and lime-based renders, and gypsum plaster.

"We see the acquisition of Lapis by Krahn Chemie as very positive. We are convinced that it will guarantee even better support for our customers, and the market development will be more intense", says Gilles Razzauti, Commercial Manager Europe at Akzo Nobel Performance Additives.

"Akzo Nobel is a leading producer of raw materials for dry mortar. We are looking forward to expanding our cooperation, and see Akzo Nobel as an excellent strategic partner for further expansion of our construction chemicals business", says Cristian Groenewegen, Managing Director of Krahn Chemie Benelux.
