Technavio: Use of nanotechnology in textile production

Grow of 13% until 2019 predicted

19-Oct-2015 - United Kingdom

The latest report by Technavio pinpoints the growth of the smart and interactive textile market, which are fabrics embedded with electronic components. These fabrics have a wide range of applications such as health monitoring, heat management, and communication.

“There is an increasing demand for smart textiles in the healthcare sector due to their light weight, flexibility, dimensional variability, and surface modification properties. Thus the growth in the smart textile market will fuel the demand for the textile machinery market,” says Faisal Ghaus, Vice President of Technavio.

The latest report by Technavio also emphasizes the use of nanotechnology in textile production, as they provide benefits such as UV protection, easy to clean, water and stain repellent, and anti-odor.

“The conventional methods used to provide different properties to fabrics often do not lead to permanent effects after laundering or wearing. However, nanotech textiles overcome this drawback and retain high durability even after washing,” adds Ghaus.

The new Technavio report covers the present scenario and growth prospects of the global textile machinery market from 2015-2019. To determine the market size, the report considers unit shipments of machineries such as spinning, weaving, texturing, and knitting.
