Global Bioenergies: Completion of the basic engineering phase of the Leuna Demo Plant
Global Bioenergies and The Linde Group today announce the completion of the basic engineering phase of Global Bioenergies' demo plant.
In February 2014, Global Bioenergies entrusted the Engineering Division of technology company The Linde Group with the mission to deliver the basic engineering study upstream of the construction of its demonstration plant. Tthe two companies announced that this phase has now been completed successfully.
Markus Wolperdinger, Vice President Biotechnology Plants at Linde's Engineering Division said: "We are proud to deliver to Global Bioenergies a complete basic engineering package for its process to convert sugars into isobutene, a gaseous hydrocarbon. This one-of-a-kind demo plant will be an important milestone on the way to the commercialization of Global Bioenergies' innovative biotechnological processes".
The demo plant, expected to be installed in the Fraunhofer CBP building at the Leuna complex, is associated with a EUR 5.7m grant from the German Federal Ministry of Research (BMBF).
