Evonik is experiencing continued growth in Turkey
"Turkey is a highly attractive market for our specialty chemicals, where we’ll continue to pursue the current growth trend," said Thomas Wessel, the HR Director of Evonik Industries AG who is also the responsible Executive Board member for the company’s Europe Region, in Tuzla/Istanbul. Thanks to rising purchasing power, a young population, and the steady expansion of the country’s infrastructure, the Turkish business of Evonik has seen very dynamic growth in recent years, doubling the local revenues of the specialty chemicals corporation to some €200 million in the past three years. The most important activities of Evonik in Turkey include superabsorbents for the production of disposable diapers, silicas for fuel-efficient tires, monomers for the manufacture of materials such as PLEXIGLAS® as well as DL-methionine, an amino acid for healthy and environmentally sound animal nutrition.
The distribution activities of Evonik in the Turkish domestic market and exports to central Asian growth markets are managed by Evonik Degussa Ticaret Ltd., which is celebrating its 25th anniversary in Tuzla this year. The sales structures are continuously expanded with the goal of intensifying the close cooperation with customers and offering customized products and solutions for the Turkish market. Evonik recently opened a showroom in Tuzla where customers can find information about the many versatile options of using PLEXIGLAS®, from lamps to automotive applications and sound insulation walls. The company also plans to open a new laboratory for customers of its DL-methionine business in Tuzla before the end of this year.
