Oxea expands its portfolio with new special alcohols

10-Aug-2012 - Germany

Oxea announced that it is expanding its product portfolio by offering a broader range of higher alcohols. For this purpose, Oxea invested in additional hydration capacities at the Oberhausen site. In the third quarter of 2012, the product n-heptanol will be commercially available, followed by 3-methyl butanol, 2-methyl butanol and n-pentanol. Higher alcohols are not only indispensable components for the fragrance and flavor industry, they are also required for the production of varnish, paint and lubricant additives or are used as special solvents in the pharmaceutical industry.

“With our new products, we are meeting the globally increasing demand for higher alcohols,” said Dr. Christoph Balzarek, global marketing manager for amines & oxo specialties at Oxea. “Flavors and fragrances for which we provide the raw materials with our special alcohols have the greatest added value of all additives in the food and cosmetics industry. By expanding our hydration capacities and our product portfolio, we will also be able to meet the future requirements of our customers worldwide,” Balzarek continued.
