Brenntag and AECI Limited close acquisition in South Africa

Brenntag together with AECI Limited, announce that their South African joint venture, Crest Chemicals Limited, has completed the acquisition of different assets of WK Croxton (Pty) Limited, an importer of caustic soda in South Africa. In addition Crest Chemicals Limited acquired 64% of the outstanding shares of Protank (Pty) Limited, a storage company in the port of Durban for bulk liquid products. The total investment amounts to EUR 12.4 million.

Croxton operates from Pietermaritzburg in Kwazulu Natal and manages the supply chain on four main products, namely: Caustic soda, magnesium oxide, sodium chlorate, and sodium hypochlorite. Protank provides the necessary infrastructure to service Croxton’s needs. The company owns storage tanks at the Maydon Wharf in Durban. Croxton is Protank’s main customer for receiving, storing, and shipping of Caustic Soda.
