Univar invests in upgraded facilities in Italy to service its agreement with SAFECHEM in Southern Europe

20-Sep-2011 - Italy

Univar Inc. announced that it has invested in upgraded facilities in Italy to service its agreement with SAFECHEM Europe GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company.

Univar will now lead the management of the SAFE-TAINER™ system refilling and the waste management business in Southern Europe from its upgraded facilities in Cusago, near Milan, Italy.  Univar’s investment in Cusago not only increases the plant’s cutting-edge safety and operational capabilities, but also sees the addition of a new stock area, filling station, tanks and a technological safety system for emission control.

As part of its agreement with SAFECHEM, Univar manages the delivery, handling and withdrawal of chlorinated solvents and promotes the SAFE-TAINER™ system from SAFECHEM to eliminate any risks that might be associated with the transfer and storage of material.
