Celanese Appoints Holmes Chief Marketing Officer
Celanese Corporation announced the appointment of Dr. Peter Holmes to the position of Chief Marketing Officer, effective December 13.
“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Holmes to Celanese where he will co-lead Celanese’s Office of Strategic Growth and bring his deep experience to our ongoing efforts to identify new areas of growth and increase the level of innovation in all facets of the organization,” said Dave Weidman, Chairman and CEO.
Dr. Holmes has spent more than 24 years working in the fine chemicals and specialty materials industry. Most recently he was Senior Vice President for Cherokee Pharmaceuticals, responsible for the company’s services business.
Previously, he worked for Rohm and Haas Company where he started his career as a Senior Scientist in Discovery Agricultural Chemicals. His tenure included leadership roles in R&D, manufacturing and marketing before assuming general management roles in Singapore, Shanghai and the U.S. Dr. Holmes was also appointed Director of New Growth Platforms with responsibility for identifying, evaluating and executing that company’s entry strategies and acquisition roadmaps into new, significant businesses.
Dr. Holmes earned a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, a doctorate in Organic Chemistry from Howard University, and completed Executive Education at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business.
Dr. Holmes will be based in Celanese’s Dallas office and is assuming the role previously held by Michael Stubblefield, who was recently named General Manager of the company’s Ticona engineering polymers business.
