Arkema invests €30 million to develop and strengthen the competitiveness of the Carling site
In line with the development plan of the Carling site around the acrylics activity launched in June 2009, as well as the commitments made at the time, Arkema now announces the construction of a new production line for DMAEA, an acrylic acid derivative, base product for flocculants used in wastewater treatment, together with a plan to upgrade the site’s energy production plant. This capital expenditure represents €30 million overall.
The construction of a new DMAEA (dimethyl amino ethyl acrylate) production line to replace an old one will help increase the site’s capacity by 30% and consolidate Arkema’s position as Europe’s leader for this product. The new plant will become operational in the first half of 2012, and the capacity increase will help meet demand in the fast growing markets of Europe and Asia resulting in particular from increasingly stringent standards for the treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater as well as the growing volume of effluents to be treated.
