GlaxoSmithKline Announces Winners of Community Health Impact Awards.
Ten area healthcare organizations receive $40,000 each

The 2000-2001 GlaxoSmithKline Community Health IMPACT Award Winners honored for their outstanding efforts are:
AIDS Coalition (Camden, NJ) Alzheimer's Association (Philadelphia, PA) Care Clinic at St. Joseph's Hospital (Philadelphia, PA) Corporate Alliance for Dug Education CADE (Bala Cynwyd, PA) Disabilities Law Project (Philadelphia, PA) Hispanic Family Center (Camden, NJ) Sikora (Camden, NJ) Temple Health Connection (Philadelphia, PA) WHEELS Medical Transportation (Philadelphia, PA) Women's Law Project (Philadelphia, PA)
A total of 36 non-profit organizations from Greater Philadelphia and the City of Camden were nominated for GlaxoSmithKline Community Health IMPACT Awards. A panel of health care experts made their selections based on criteria of commitment to serving people in need, facilitating access to health care, delivery, education, creative partnerships, policy development, and demonstration of a solid record of achievement, management and leadership.
The panel included: Calvin Bland, Interim Group Director, Health Care, The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation; Martin Goldsmith, President and CEO, Albert Einstein Medical Center; Dr. Gail Morrison, Vice Dean for Education, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Stephen Somers, President, Center for Healthcare Strategies; and GlaxoSmithKline executives: Dr. Robert Carr, Vice President and Medical Director, Corporate Health Management, Dr. D. Gwyn Morgan, Vice President and Director, Worldwide Safety Assessment, Ms. Elizabeth D. Posner, Senior Director, Worldwide Business Development, Dr. David E. Wheadon, Vice President, Regulatory Affairs - North America and Product Professional Services. Dr. John Dent, Senior Vice President and Director, Research & Development, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare, chaired the panel.
The GlaxoSmithKline Community Health IMPACT Awards program was created to acknowledge and reward exemplary healthcare provided by small- to mid-size nonprofit organizations to underserved children and adults in their community. The IMPACT program, operating in both the Philadelphia area and the United Kingdom, awards a total of $800,000 annually part of the GlaxoSmithKline Community Partnership program which focuses on building partnerships with nonprofit organizations whose goals and activities reflect GSK's commitment to improving the quality of human life.
