Bayer MaterialScience raises prices for aliphatic isocyanates

07-May-2010 - Germany

Bayer MaterialScience AG is raising its selling prices for aliphatic isocyanates in the Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA) region by between 6 and 8 percent with immediate effect.

This price increase affects the monomeric diisocyanates HDI (hexamethylene diisocyanate), IPDI (isophorone diisocyanate) and H12MDI (dicyclohexyl methane diisocyanate, Desmodur® W) and their derivatives, the HDI and IPDI polyisocyanates from the Desmodur® N, Desmodur® BL, Desmodur® Z and Bayhydur® product families.

Increases in the costs of raw materials and energy have led to a distinct decline in the margins for this group of products. To ensure continued reliability of supply and an efficient service for its customers, and to further develop the product range to meet future requirements, Bayer MaterialScience is compelled to pass on a proportion of the rising costs in the form of price increases.

Current contractual agreements will be fulfilled.
