ABB wins $13 million order in India to strengthen power grid
The Dhanonda substation is scheduled for completion in 2011, and will comprise fifteen 400 kV bays and three 220 kV bays, as well as three 315 MVA, 400/220 kV power transformers. Other key ABB products to be supplied include high-voltage circuit breakers, instrument transformers and PLCC (power line carrier communication)equipment.
The substation will also be equipped with the latest IEC 61850 substation automation system to facilitate open communication between the numerous control and protection devices within the substation and beyond. ABB is responsible for the system engineering, civil works, supply, installation, commissioning and overall project management.
HVPNL is responsible for building, operating and maintaining substations and transmission lines in Haryana. Other recent ABB orders from HVPNL include the construction of seven 220 kV and three 132 kV substations, part of the state‘s initiative to upgrade its power transmission grid.
