Saltigo: Expansion of capacity for intermediates and active ingredients for agrochemicals
Capacity increase and process optimization possible without interrupting production or limiting supply volumes
Dr. Uwe Brunk, Head of the Agro & Specialty Chemicals business line, says: “It was absolutely essential to maintain reliable supplies during the expansion phase since our customers needed every kilogram last year. Because all seven projects involved complex, multi-step synthesis with very complicated chemistry and very tight time frames, they required exceedingly accurate planning. The new connections and the re-routing of the apparatus were prepared so precisely that the output of the overall chains was not interrupted.” The measures led to process and plant optimization and to a speeding up of the processes. There were no supply delays even during the construction phase. “We are very proud that we could support our customers on short notice with the additional volumes they needed to manufacture their crop protection products. The dramatic increase in demand even surprised a lot of experts,” Uwe Brunk says. Agrochemical intermediates business, which contributes over half of Saltigo's sales, has not been hit so hard by the global economic crisis.
