Zinc matrix

The zinc matrix battery is a rechargable silver-oxide battery designed by Zinc Matrix Power. The chemistry consists mainly of zinc, silver, and water. The battery has been designed to be free of thermal runaway, which has been the main downside for lithium-ion batteries. [1]

The company claims that the battery achieves 200 W·h/kg specific energy and energy density of 500 W·h/l. [2] This would mean that for same sized batteries, a zinc matrix battery would store almost twice as much energy and weigh a little less than a Li-ion. In addition to this, the company claims it has "very low self discharge" and no memory effect.
