Sea surface microlayerThe sea surface microlayer is the 1000 micrometre-deep boundary layer of the ocean where various physical, chemical and biological processes take place. The thickness however is usually stated with the sampling device used. There are three main devices: a glass plate; ceramic drum or roller; mesh screen each device sampling gradually thicker sections. References
