Quartzarenite

A quartzarenite is a sandstone composed of greater than 95% quartz. Quartz is a very weathering resistant mineral and accumulates into sediment as weathering and erosion proceeds. Quartzarenites are therefore often rocks that form through recycling of older sedimentary deposits and are regarded as a mature sedimentary rock.
