Philip A. BeachyPhilip A. Beachy, Ph.D., is a professor of developmental biology at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. He received his Ph.D. in biochemistry from Stanford University, and has been an investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute since 1988. His research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms behind the growth of multicellular embryos, especially the role of the signalling protein Hedgehog. He joined the United States National Academy of Sciences in 2002. Additional recommended knowledgeBeachy is the brother of the historian, Robert M. Beachy.
