Inverse temperature

The inverse temperature is given by

\beta\ \stackrel{\mathrm{def}}{=}\ \frac{1}{kT}

where k is the Boltzmann constant and T is the temperature. The inverse temperature is actually more fundamental than temperature. The inverse temperature is used in many equations including the Wick Rotation.
