Double layer (electrode)

Double Layer on electrode is very similar to the typical Double Layer (interfacial). The main difference is mechanism of the surface charge formation. It is poosible to regulate surface charge of electrode by applying external electric potential. This is impossible in the case of DLs in colloids and porous bodies.

There is one peculiar parameter introduced in electrochemistry for characterizing Double Layer - differential capacitance C
C = \frac{d \sigma}{ d \Psi}

where σ is surface charge and ψ is electric surface potential
