Wilhelm Winter GmbH & Co. KG
About Wilhelm Winter
WINTER Maschinenbau was founded after the end of the Second World War in 1945, by Wilhelm Winter (engineering graduate died 12.05.1989) primarily as an engineering company. In 1946, the company set up its own production facilities at its Ratingen site.
In the early days, they manufactured oil mills, sugar beet presses and sewage pumps. A few years later, WINTER Maschinenbau's product range consisted primarily of valves, plunger pumps and water-hydraulically driven presses.
In 1964, Jost Winter (engineering graduate), the son of founder Wilhelm Winter, joined the business. In 1973 he took over as the sole managing director. During this period, the product range was extended to include the design and production of hydraulic test presses for large diameter spiral welded pipes, test benches for high-pressure water valves and special machines for the mining industry.
In the 1960s, the company moved into precision engineering, particularly the development and production of antenna rotators and the appropriate position controllers, being a significant proportion of WINTER Maschinenbau's production today. Long-standing customers in this area include major European telecommunication networks (FTZ, PTT etc.), regulatory authorities and governmental agencies (German Federal Armed Forces and NATO) and leading companies on the IT and communication sector.
Since the beginning of the 1970s, WINTER Maschinenbau has specialised in exporting machines and equipment such as coilers, straighteners, shearing machines, infeeds, long seam and cross trimmers and convector production lines developed specially for radiator production.
Hydraulic drives for incineration plants and afterburning grates for coal-fired power plants, continuous galvanising machines, hydraulic presses and special test benches round off the product range. In addition, WINTER Maschinenbau develops and produces special solutions designed to user-specific special solutions such as abrasive cutters, fire extinguishing units and low temperature recycling units for halongenated extinguishing equipment.
In 1994 Stefan Winter (engineering graduate) and in 2000 Thomas Winter (management graduate), both sons of Jost Winter, joined the company. In 2001 Dr.-Ing. Markus Osterloh (Doctor of Engineering) joined the company. Stefan and Thomas Winter and Dr. Osterloh are members of the actual management. Mr. Jost Winter left the management of the company in 2007.
Today, WINTER Maschinenbau has a team of excellently trained engineers, service technicians and foremen in production and assembly. They make sure that the tried and tested systems always feature state of the art technology and new product developments to be implemented rapidly.
Independent production facilities with state of the art machinery enable the company to produce high quality parts in a short timeframe and thus to adhere a high level of delivery reliability.
Part of the production is performed by reliable suppliers and partners.
WINTER Maschinenbau has enjoyed many years of co-operation with specialist engineers, e.g. from the electrical and control engineering sector, and with software companies who support WINTER Maschinenbau with special know-how on particular issues and also cover services that WINTER Maschinenbau is unable to provide itself.
