One in four of the world’s light bulbs is powered by Alstom technologies
The company is the world leader in integrated power plant, in power production services and air quality control systems. Alstom works with all energy forms (coal, gas, nuclear, fuel-oil, hydropower, wind) and is a leader in environmental protection (reduction of CO2 emissions, reduction of nitrogen oxide emissions..). Alstom will provide the conventional island for the future EPR nuclear power plant in France. The Group is also developing CO2 capture processes that could lead to commercial scale in the medium term.
The world leader in very high speed transport
In the field of rail transport, Alstom is the global number one in terms of orders. Alstom supplies rolling stock, transport infrastructure and signalling, maintenance equipment, and global rail systems. From the very first TGV* delivered in 1978, Alstom has developed a world leading position in very high speed trains. The technological advance of Alstom allowed the company to achieve the world rail speed record at a speed of 574.8 kph on 3 April 2007. The company is number two worldwide in urban transport : one in four metro systems and one of three tramways in the world have rolled off Alstom’s production lines.
