Since the company was founded by Dr. N. Gerber more than 120 years ago, Gerber Instruments AG has focused on butyrometers for the determination of fat in milk and dairy products. These glass instruments as well as acid butyrometry were developed by Dr. N. Gerber in 1892. It was important to him to produce a reliable and easy-to-use measuring instrument for determining the quality of milk. His method gave the Swiss dairy industry an international reputation and it is now indispensable in any milk laboratory in the world.
