About Materialsgate
Dr.-Ing. Christoph Konetschny studied material sciences and mineralogy at the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany. His major subjects were constructional and functional materials, surface technology, composite materials, plastics engineering, chemical analytics, structural research and general material science.
His diploma thesis dealt with novel surface properties of medical materials and was conducted within the framework of an industrial project together with the Aesculap AG (supervised by Prof. Dr. Exner, specialist field: physical metallurgy, 1995).
His doctoral thesis dealt with the field of the production of novel solid substances, in cooperation with De Beers, South Africa (supervised by Prof. Dr. Riedel, specialist field: disperse solids, 1999).
Before going to University, Dr.-Ing. Christoph Konetschny successfully completed his professional training as a chemical laboratory assistant at Merck KGaA in Darmstadt, Germany.
In 2000, the material portal Materialsgate was established and Dr.-Ing. Christoph Konetschny ventured into self-employment. Among his competencies are consulting and search services with respect to new materials, nanomaterials, innovative methods and future techniques. Since then, Dr.-Ing. Christoph Konetschny has supported several hundred international clients from the fields of industry, research, product design and architecture with his search and consulting services.
Further activities:
Dr.-Ing. Christoph Konetschny was a lecturer in material and technology support at the department of design of the University of Darmstadt, Germany; he was chairman of the jury of a leading Design Award; and he cooperates with several institutions in the field of professional training.
