About KLK EMMERICH
KLK OLEO is part of Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad ("KLK"), a reputable international plantation group listed on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange, Bursa Malaysia. KLK celebrated its 100 year anniversary on 19 May 2006.
The origins of KLK can be traced back to 1906 when the original company, Kuala Lumpur Rubber Co., Ltd. was formed in London. It was subsequently moved to Malaysia in 1972 under a Scheme of Reconstruction. Plantations still remain the core business for KLK.
Capitalizing on the strategic location of its land bank, KLK subsequently ventured into property development.
Responding to the need to diversify, KLK has also expanded its business further downstream into resource-based manufacturing under the KLK OLEO Group with presence in Malaysia, China, Indonesia and Europe.
KLK OLEO successfully acquired a new plant on the river of Rhine in Germany.
The plant, which is over 100 years old, is strategically situated close to key customers and raw material supply routes in the heart of Europe. Possessing world-scale assets, it has production facilities which manufacture of a range of fatty acids, hydrogenated fatty acids and glycerine by splitting of vegetable oils. The main raw materials used on site are either natural vegetable oils (e.g. coconut oil, palmkernel oil, rapeseed oil) or crude glycerine, either normal or methonolysed.
Emmerich is known to have a strong pedigree with the owners of Unilever (UNICHEMA), ICI (UNIQEMA) and Croda.
Today, it is part of KLK OLEO.
